Antique is My New Favorite Color

I know that Valentine’s Day is past, but I just have to tell ya’ll that I have the BEST husband EVER. I bought paint on Saturday, thinking it would take me the better part of a week to paint our bedroom. I was a little worried that I would have nothing to show you today but a caterpillar still crawling around eating everything in sight, instead of working on a cocoon.

BUT, thanks to my guy, and this:

THE PAINTING IS DONE!!!! (yes, I’m shouting, because I’m just that excited!)

The color is “Antique,” a Waverly shade from Lowe’s. I have found Lowe’s Valspar paint to cover well for a reasonable price. This was even on sale, and I’ll get a $5 rebate per can!

Now, the room is still a MESS, so the pictures to follow have been very carefully framed, ‘cuz I’ve shown you the mess once, and I’m not gonna do it again.

Furniture looks better already, doesn’t it?

Hubby held the ladder while I painted this part. Makes my legs tingle again just thinkin’ about it. This is why I don’t do roller coasters.

Needless to say, I am THRILLED with the new color, and looking forward to the next step.

With last week’s goals checked off (I took a van load of stuff to the back door of the Goodwill store, then went in the front door and spend $12!), this week I plan to “make” my window mistreatments, and get the furniture back in place!
Thanks for checking in with me, be sure to check out the other transformations at
Between Naps on the Porch. Happy Monday!

  1. I like the antique color! Painting is on my plan this week too. Just heard about the paint sale on another blog. I’m heading to Lowe’s after I look through your blog. :)

  2. Love a fresh painted wall! It will be fun to see how the room comes together. You had me laughing with your Goodwill comment. I do that all the time. Donate then go in to buy…

  3. Nothing transforms like paint, and this color is really lovely — it looks very nice against your wood furniture.

Congrats on getting a project done! Isn’t it great to cross something off that “to-do” list? :-) Especially such a BIG something!

  4. It’s amazing how a fresh coat of paint can make such a big change in a room :-)

I’m OK with painting on a ladder — painting on scaffolding, not so much!! It’s good to have hubby act as your spotter :-)

Looking forward to seeing more next week :-)

  5. Love the new color. But what I really love is that you dropped things off at the back of GW and and then went in and bought more to take home – you are my kind of gal lol! Kathy
