Inspiring Spaces

I am experiencing some major eye fatigue, as I drag myself away from my first visit to HGTV’s Rate My Space. O.M.G. but there are some GORGEOUS bedrooms posted there. I’ve got to admit, I am impressed first by the bravery of those souls that share their room designs. Some of the comments are brutally honest! I’m not sure I would have the confidence to “put myself out there.”

That said, I’m really glad that there ARE some brave souls in this world (remember, I’m the girl whose legs shake just getting on a ladder!), otherwise I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to drool on my laptop tonight. Or maybe that was just sleepy slobber…

This room was designed by a DUDE, girls! Can you believe that? I just love the softness that the window treatments bring to the hard angles of the room. The sparkle of the tabletops and the chandelier add just the right touch. And what a fab job of making the bed the focal point.

This room is to. die. for. Look at those photos above the bed!! Love the window treatments hung from the top of the wall. (Can you tell I’m making window treatments this week?) Great use of warm wood tones.

Who can guess why I loved this one? Well, you’re right that wall color is beautiful, but LOOK above the headboard! It’s a B, ya’ll! Now, these people KNOW monograms. You know, I’m going to have to squeeze a B into my master bedroom makeover somewhere, we’ll see where it ends up!
I can never wrap up a visit to without checking out some pictures from my favorite designer, Candice Olson. Just take you a gander at THIS:

SHEER PERFECTION, I tell ya. That woman is the queen of design.

Now, I know what you’re thinkin’, I need to quit looking and get back to work. I hear ya, that fabric isn’t gonna make itself into window mistreatments…

  1. Oh,wow – those bedrooms are gorgeous. I *really* like the 2nd and the 3rd ones – just beautiful. I agree with you, I don’t think I’d be able to put mine out there, either! :)

  2. Love it all! I’m all about the inspiration this week as I’m getting my house unpacked & decorated. I’m also doing some window mistreatments this weekend. Best of luck with yours … oh hell, they’re “mis”treatments … how could we go wrong? Hahaha

  3. I know what you mean about putting yourself out there. I posted pictures on Rate My Space, and let’s just say, they did NOT go easy on me. My room does not compare with some of the rooms on there, but I don’t think it is as bad as what they said. After reading some of the comments, I could not go back to that site for several months.

Love all of the rooms you posted. Can’t wait to see your window treatments.

    Wendy :)

  4. I love the pictures above the bed! I’m gonna go through my pix right now and see what one’s are going to adorn MY headboard. Just think… sleeping under the sweet little faces of the angels we made together… how romantic

  5. i love how neutral and light the bedding is in all the photos ( and your other bedroom inspiration photo a few posts back…) why did I buy the brightest red comforter I could find???? i really want to tone it down to resemble those rooms more…so soothing, huh?

  6. I love your inspiration photos! The Nester’s 10 minutes to a room you’ll love series has inspired me to spend several weekends and whatever time I can find during the week to update my master bath and bedroom…argh! If they look anything like your photos, however, it will all be worth it.

Oh, thanks for stopping by my blog!

  7. What gorgeous rooms. Now show me the home that can stay picture perfect like that and I’ll eat my hat! Well, I don’t have a hat…what about chocolate?

    Love this post!

  8. I love Candace Olsen, too. I don’t watch much HGTV anymore, but if I do it’s definitely her show.

I’m dying to do something to my master bedroom…oh for some time and money.

  9. So crazy that you posted those pictures. Those were all pictures I was looking at yesterday and saved to my computer. I’m in the process of wanting to spruse up our bedroom and can’t quite figure out what I want. I liked bits and pieces from all of the pics. Candice Olsen is by far my favorite designer :) Such amazing inspiration!
