I know, I know, now pick yourself up off the floor, 'cuz I got something to tell you about.
Shhhh, I don't want too many people to hear me say this. I mean, I have a reputation to uphold and all.
Sometimes, you just HAVE to buy something NEW.
There. I said it.
Sometimes you can scour every flea market, thrift store and garage sale in town, and no one is throwing out or selling what you need. I HATE when that happens.
Sometimes, there's a sanitation issue. I just haven't been able to bring myself to buy towels or sheets, or even throw pillows second hand. (This may be my issue alone, and, if so, I can handle that).
Don't these look delish? (photo from The Company Store)
We all know that there are great deals to be had by watching for clearance sales and by using 40-50% off coupons at stores like Joann Fabrics and Michael's.I have another source for great shopping on-line. It's called Ebates.com. Ebates is a cash back shopping site. Membership is free. When you want to shop on-line, you go to Ebates first, then click on the link to your favorite store and do your shopping. There are hundreds of companies on Ebates, the Home Decor section is LOADED! With each purchase you earn cash back that is deposited into your Ebates account. The amounts vary per store, and can be anywhere from 1% to 5% or more. There are also shopping "coupons" for free shipping and other discounts. Every three months Ebates will send you a check, provided you have accumulated more than $5.00.
I bought the fabric for my bedroom through Ebates, from fabric.com. I don't do very much on-line shopping, but today I got a check in the mail for $19.50. That can buy a lot at the Goodwill! (oops.)
Now, here's the really cool part. You can earn $5 in your account for each friend that you refer that joins Ebates. And your friend will earn $5 too. Since I consider all of you my friends, you can start off by entering my e-mail address (reinventedkb@gmail.com), earn your free $5 and then start referring your other friends! Yes, I am always this generous with my friends. ;) If you'd rather not enter my e-mail, just start off as a new member and then tell all of your friends. Give it a try!
Okay, everyone, let's share. What is your favorite source for great deals?

Great tips! You're right though - sometimes only new will do. We have a list of things we won't buy used - underwear (ewwww) and shoes being among them. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is fantastic! Thanks for the tip. I will definitely put your email in there ... goodies for you ... goodies for me ... sounds good! Haha Hubby likes the idea too. Oh and Blue Castle ... underwear ... LOL!!! Um, yea!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree!! Thanks for sharing!!

Kimm,
ReplyDeleteLove that Goodwill! But if i can't paint it or scrub it down with Clorox Cleanup it doesn't come home. We have the best GW in Lexington, right next to my grocery store. My family has caught on to my extended grocery shopping. Cannot believe the things that people donate!
Love your blog and look forward to following.
Lisa
I just stole your blog from "The Nester's" comment page.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw Goodwill I just had to stop over!
I too am a goodwill frequent shopper.
I am going to save your blog to my favs and visit you often!
Yippee!! Kimm, I am so grateful for this tidbit of info. I am going to hop over to ebates now and sign up! I will use your email, of course :)))

Great tips...awwww I love new towels~
ReplyDeleteTHanks for the info! I am looking for new bed linens as we speak!
ReplyDeleteYou are right. Sometimes only new will do! I have purchased rugs and chair cushions from thrift stores; but doubt I could do sheets or towels.
ReplyDeleteHey, Kimm! Thanks for visiting my blog! CHild #2 is better--he just ate a cheeseburger and fries from Mickey D's! Praise!!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! We also have a thrift store down the road whose proceeds benefit the homeless here in Greenville. SO, I try to frequent them 'cause I know where that $$ is going. THey even had a posterboard with pics on it at the store of a Christams meal they prepared for these folks! I've never seen anything like that in other shops!
Hugs,
Susan
This is interesting. I've heard about this but never spoke to anyone who used it.
ReplyDeletePerfectly agree!! Love this!

Watch out, ebates wasn’t included in the Stimulus Bailout. Ebates is even better when they pay what’s promised. I clicked ass from September 1- December 31, 08 and have a balance in excess of $200, now ebates own blog http://blog1.ebates.com/ebates/2009/02/ For Those of You Missing Cash Back Payments explains we’re temporarily not able to pay those ebates earned four and ½ months ago!

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about those last 2 comments, girls, I just received my check yesterday, and I've had no problems with them at all.
ReplyDeleteWow, I've never heard of ebates - sounds neat! I have to agree with you on the used towel thing - I must get those new. :) My favorite place for bargains - Target, ebay, and Goodwill!
