Trash to Treasure Tuesday–The Benchmark Edition

Wow. Upholstery is HARD.

I read many tutorials before this project. Tutorials that used the words EASY and QUICK.
Not.

When I found this bench at the Goodwill for $4.99, I LOVED the six curvy legs.

After stapling fabric around those SIX CURVY LEGS, my love for them diminished a little. I actually broke a sweat. Which is good, ‘cuz now I don’t need to go to the gym today, right?
Last night I started this project.

I broke ALL of the child labor laws.

He was okay with the WORK, but wanted to make sure I gave him “half the CREDIT.”

After the legs were painted, I called it a night.

This morning, I stapled on the beautiful aqua microfiber fabric I chose. Did I mention it was hard? Thank goodness I chose a solid color, I had a feeling a pattern would be challenging.

The AFTER. Not too bad for a beginner?

Is the room DONE? Well, no, ‘cuz I’d really like to have an area rug. DONE, FOR NOW? You betcha.

  1. That turned out great! I upholstered a very small footstool once – yeah it was a challenge!

And I finally have a project posted for TtTT – I missed joining in the fun!

  2. Beautiful! I love it painted white…heirloom white, of course. I think you did a fab job … pat yourself on the back. I have an old coffee table in the garage I’ve been wanting to upholster for a year now. It’s on my goal list for this summer…we’ll see!

  3. Wow that was a challenge!! Great job and it really does an excellent job finishing out the room. Tell your son he did a great job!!

BTW- I was at Lowes today looking for another can of Heirloom White paint (not spray) and couldn’t find it. I need to finish out a desk and ran out. Do you know where to get it?

    Have a great day!

  4. Hey – I knew I would love the little bench!! And I do! So sad I can’t link up this week… I’m out of town for work. I’ll be back next week though! ;)

  5. I am assuming that is your backyard fence. So flippin’ cute. Not very private but quite friendly. If you had my neighbors kids, you would want a steel wall. I love this pretty look.

  6. Your bench turned out wonderful and your right those legs are dreamy. Glad you stuck with it because the end result is great. Not to shabby for a newbie =)

  7. You did a great job! I think it turned out wonderfully. I just got a little stool at GW too for $3.50 and turned it into a monogrammed burlap stool. You can’t beat deals at GW! I am a mom of 4 too! We sound a lot alike, except you’re a nurse, and I would faint at the sight of a needle! :)
    Blessings,
    Traci

  8. The bench came out beautifully. It looks SO good painted white… nice choice.

Thank you for linking this up with Monday Makeovers. Check back tomorrow to see if your project has been selected as a finalist. :-)
