School starts here on August 31st, so that's not TOO far away. And for some of you, I know, it's starts in early August, making this post down right TIMELY.
Here are a couple of "upcycling" projects for your home, both of them useful for storing and organizing books, homework supplies, tennis shoes, school shoes, soccer cleats...
Oh my, I'm SO not ready for all of that. I just want the kids to go somewhere all day. (he he)

Check out this desk with shelves made from a door. This could easily be made with a salvage door, MDF boards and some brackets from a thrift store or even your local home improvement warehouse. I think it would make quite the stylish homework center.
This shoe storage unit is made from buckets with a wood frame. How cool is that? I'm thinking this would be perfect for muddy soccer cleats. You could just hose out the buckets to clean them.
Directions for both of these projects can be found HERE.
So, whether you're in the throes of back to school planning or not, these ideas could make your life easier and more organized. That's something I can use all year long.
