It’s that time of year again. The time when I drool over pictures of people’s posh porches.
Then I try to make my tiny one look good.
This is the porch I HAVE.
The polka dot pots are kind of a big deal around here. Otherwise it’s pretty boring. And small.
This is the porch I WANT. (from Country Living)
Can you just imagine? If I had that porch I’d never leave. There’s no way I’d be preparing to drive 15 hours to Florida with four kids and a husband who can’t sing but belts out Top 40 hits anyway.
I’d settle for this one too. (from BHG)
I’d sit in one of those fabulous chairs sniffing the geraniums and reading Dr. Seuss books.
A poet has to hone her craft.
Maybe I just need more POTS. Like this perfectly potted porch. I’m LOOOVING the purple.
I think I’m of the “you can’t have too many pots” persuasion.
What about you?
Thanks so much to everyone that graciously offered to guest post for me next week. I’ve got an amazing line-up planned, don’t miss it!
Oh! and GUESS WHAT? The winner of the Timeless Treasures giveaway is The Clines! Look for an e-mail from me to claim your prize!

My porch is much smaller than yours. I laughed so much when I saw the porch you want! :) I couldn't agree more!! I drive to FL as well, but I would definitely stay home if I had that porch!
ReplyDeleteMy porch is smaller too, and angled. Oh yeah, I NEED that porch in the photo too. My dream home has a big wide covered porch. With lots of room for groupings of furniture and entertaining.
ReplyDeleteI love the wrap around porch. I love the house I'm in, but I miss the porch I left.
ReplyDeleteWhen my husband and I can finally settle down (not in a starter home) those are exactly the kind of porches that I dream to have. Someday we will build our home and I will have an amazing porch like that too. Yours may be small but very cozy and welcoming. I'd come sit and have tea with you. :o)
ReplyDeleteYour porch is cute! I love the polka dot pots and letter on your door!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to work on my porch/curb appeal this year. My porch is about the size of yours so I like seeing how you did yours. I hope you have a great time on your vacation!
ReplyDeleteThe Country Living porch is amazing! Thanks for the inspiration - My porch needs some love this year!
ReplyDeleteOh I dream about a big porch too! I would spend my entire day just sitting on it and decorating!
ReplyDeleteUm, SWOON over that Country Living Porch!! Its straight off of my fantasy house :D
ReplyDeleteOh we totally have the same tastes! I LOVE a wrap around porch, those are amazing.
ReplyDeleteYour porch is so cute! We only have a front step at our house and a back deck, no front porch at all, so I also drool over the beautiful big porches!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway- I'm thrilled to be the winner!!
Have a great trip to Florida!
Teresa
You have that much space on your porch....LOL....mine is not that large. Your looks pretty but like you I have always wanted a large porch and a deck is just not the same.
ReplyDeleteI love front porches! They are one of my favorite things in the world. Last year, we remodeled and I added a 17 foot front porch to my house and it's the best thing I ever did!
ReplyDeleteYour porch is about the size of mine but my door is right in the middle. I am trying to figure out how to make it really shine this year. I live in Florida but for some reason, builders think the big porch is out - it gets hot down here and there is nothing better than to sit in your rocker on the front porch sipping sweet tea and waving at the neighbors. I can't do that since my porch is so small so we put a pretty canopy swing in the front yard (off to the side) and we are now known as the Swinging Couple in our neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteMy dream is a big wrap around porch with several sitting areas...oh how divine it would be to enjoy afternoons and evenings from a rocking chair, swing, or Adirondack!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the results! Love your "B" on the front door! I just did a porch re-do on my blog if you want to check it out http://a-room-with-a-view-decor.blogspot.com. Not totally completed, but it's getting there:)
ReplyDeleteI am a porch person too. Your porch may be little, but your home is so welcoming- and so is your porch.
ReplyDeleteI am blessed to have a wrap around porch on my home. And my favorite part is that I have a swing right out my back door. I have coffee on it all year round, even wrapped up in a quilt!
Thanks for reminding me how blessed we are to have porches!
Yvonne
I found you over at Obsessive Creative, so I am following you too! I loved your button. Very truthful. Some of the bloggers have all these fancy stuff I could never afford. I like realistic decorating! Please come say hello at my place sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing porches! Right now my little townhouse doesn't even have a porch... more like a "landing"... just enough room for me, a bag of groceries, and a pot (I'm in love with pots as well :)
ReplyDeleteIt's strange but our porch seems more private than the backyard patio. You're dreaming of porches. I'm dreaming of organized and pretty garages.
ReplyDeleteI really like your monogram "B" on your front door? Where did you get it? I would love to gave a "G" for my door!
ReplyDeleteI love porches too. Thanks for sharing your great pictures. Love & blessings from NC!
ReplyDeleteWe don't really do porches like that in Scotland, not that much opportunity to sit out on them! I suspecting you have 'Southfork Syndrome' were you brought up on Dallas as a child? ha ha ha! They are lovely and I think a nice chilled glass of something would be just the thing while sitting on that Country Living porch.
ReplyDeleteFound this post while looking for Stephanie from somewhat simple-
ReplyDeletelove the porches!
my porch is small, big enough for a swing- I wish is were a little bit bigger.
Love the porches you've shown here!
great eye candy.
Porches are a great place to have some iced tea, good friends, a book, or some crochet!
