Happy Day!! Today let’s welcome a guest post from Joanna at Design Shuffle. If you’ve got plans to jazz up your child’s room, read on!
There are a lot of fun, creative ideas for children’s rooms these days. Beyond pink for girls and blue for boys, the trends for children’s rooms in 2011 include animals, DIY, space and some classics like princesses and dinosaurs. Take a look at our favorite room trends for design ideas.
Organic is a big trend in furniture and bedding for the whole house. Consider organic bedding and eco-friendly furniture for your kid’s room. And don’t forget paint! There are a lot of eco-friendly and kid friendly paints out there now.
Zoo animals, farm animals, and birds are very trendy for children’s rooms. From wall decals to linens, these cute critters are a great addition. Think about your kid’s favorite animals and build a room around them.
Space continues to be a great theme for a boy’s room. We’re seeing everything from Star Wars to monkeys in space.
If the rest of your interior is modern, why not continue that in the kid’s room? Clean lines and bright colors keep things simple and fresh. Think primary colors, complementary colors or black and white with a single accent color.
Crafts and crafting are popular hobbies, so it’s not surprising to see the trend carry over into a few interior design ideas. Consider DIY projects that you can do together with your kids to decorate their bedrooms.
Princesses will never go out of style. Think about an updated princess theme with bright accent colors and sophisticated accessories like a chandelier or fabric canopies.
Dinosaurs are making a comeback. Look for them in wall murals and bedding as well as creative accent pieces like area rugs and lamps. Dinosaurs are part of a larger vintage trend of comics, cars and cartoons.
