Tour Around Blogland

Hi everyone, Happy Monday!

Is there such a thing?

Of course there is, because today is THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!  I am thrilled that my kids’ brains with be occupied with the acquisition of knowledge, rather than occupied with plotting to kill each other.  ;)

So, today I’m participating in the Tour Through Blogland.  I’m not actually sure who started this tour, but it was a fabulous person because it’s a really great idea.  Each Monday, bloggers first introduce the blogger who invited them,  answer four questions about themselves, and finally introduce the  3 additional bloggers that they have invited!

I was invited by JannYvette Byrd, blogger at Confessions of a Junkaholic.   Oh my goodness, a girl after my own heart.

JannYvette is clearly an expert picker, and knows how to turn her trashy finds into treasures.  Recently she posted a tutorial on painting and distressing furniture.  Look at this beauty!

JannYvette recently began selling a line of t-shirts for us  junky girls.  And I just had to share a picture.

SOOO cute, right?  Go here for more information.

Now for the official Blogland Tour questions.  Here we go.

1.  What am I working on right now?

Well…I just finished making curtains for my family room and a cute matching pillow cover, so after all that measuring and cutting and swearing, I must have a break from sewing.

So I’ll paint something.  Probably the master bathroom.

I’m also working on a Wanderlust look for our powder room, a place to showcase my gorgeous All’asta finds.

2.  How Does My Work Differ From Others in the Genre?

What’s a genre?

Just kidding.  One way that my work differs from some others, is, that instead of an occasional “keepin’ it real” post, it’s pretty real around here all. the. time.  I really want this to be a place where we can all hang out, bounce ideas off each other and drool over our “finds.”  It helps if you are as addicted as I am to decorating.   I don’t have a lot of money to spend on my house, and I know that most of you don’t either.  So we’ll figure it out together.

Oh and I HATE typos and incorrect use of contractions.  (i.e. your, you’re) and the incorrect use of there, they’re and there.  I don’t know if that makes me different, but it really bugs me and I had to get it off my chest.  K?

3.  Why Do I Write/Create What I Do?

Hmmm…because I’m obsessed, I guess.  I eat, sleep and dream about decorating.  I can’t leave well enough alone for even a season.  Just ask my engineer husband, the one with the total right brain, black and white, see a problem solve a problem way of thinking.  Thank goodness he loves me even when he doesn’t “get me.”

I would MUCH rather buy a piece with a history and make it work for our house then buy something that matches perfectly from a big store.  And I LOVE sharing those finds with you.   Although, if Pottery Barn or West Elm would like to give me a whole house worth of furniture and accessories, I’d reverse my position on a dime.  ;)

I can’t believe I”m saying this, but I think I have a knack for it.  At least my friends tell me I do.  I LOVE it when they ask for my decorating advice.  AND I love pretending that you did too.  ;)

4.  How Does My Writing/Creative Process Work?

Uh oh.  I don’t actually have any sort of formal process.  My projects are usually ideas born from trying to change something up in my house without spending any or very little  money.  I get a kick out of creating a whole new look with stuff I already have.  And/or other peoples’ trash.

When it comes time to write, I just word vomit it all out and then come back later and edit, edit, edit.

Yikes, I hope you all stick around after that.

Now to introduce the three fabulous ladies that I have invited to this here tour.

First up is Let’s Get Crafty.  Christine has such an adorable blog, I squealed when I saw the header, let alone the content!  :)  I am her newest, biggest fan.

Mine would just be black.
