Family Room Tour

Hi friends!

We are in the home stretch of summer break here, my kids go back to school on Monday.  This week is full of schedule pick ups, orthodontist appointments, immunization records…

What have you been up to?

If you’re local, the third edition of the Columbus Arts & Vintage Marketplace is this Sunday from 10am-5pm at the Aladdin Shrine Temple on Steltzer Road.  This third edition promises to be the best one yet!  I would LOVE to see you there.

Okay, so much for current events, would you like to have a tour of my family room?

We’ve lived in this house for 9 years, and I’ve been blogging for 5, but I don’t think I’ve ever photographed the entire room.

It has gone through so many changes and tweaks over the years.

Here’s a shot looking in from the attached kitchen and eating nook.

If you’d like to know more about the mantel, read My Mantel’s Gifts.

If you’d like to know more about the painted glass shelf filler, read my post Fast and Frugal Filler for Shelves.

We’re loving the vintage toolbox as clutter corral.  There are more remotes in that baby than I can count.

See that afghan?  My grandmother made that a LONG time ago.  She was chevron when chevron wasn’t cool.  It’s the blanket my kids bring me when I’m sick.  Unfortunately, it’s not supposed to be stuffed behind the end table.

This corner has more storage.  Here’s some advice from me to you, if you need storage but don’t have a piece large enough.

Stack it up!

The blankets are supposed to go in that chest.  I think I’m going to paint the knobs gold.

To the left of the fireplace, we have the TV cabinet that I painted with ASCP in Old White.  And an old garden screen as wall art.

And, last but not least, the curtain wall, featuring my easy sew curtains.

Cuz that’s the only kind I know how to make.

The large sign is from Between You and Me Signs on Etsy.  I LOVE every thing they make.

That’s it!  Our family room is the most loved on and used space in our home.  With six humans and 2 canines living here, it gets plenty of abuse, but we love it.

Have a great day everyone!  Thanks so much for stopping by.
