I Heart Vintage Green Ball Jars

Hey reinventing friends!

How are you on this gorgeous late summer day?  Have your kids started back to school yet?  Mine start August 25 (7th grade, 10th grade and 12th grade–yikes!) and August 27 (Junior in college–what??).

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?

Sorry, I know that’s a little off topic, but I. CAN’T. WAIT.

To pass the time, let’s talk about Ball jars.

Beautiful vintage green Ball jars.

I received these beauties from Jarden Home Brands (makers of Ball jars) last week and I’m in love.

Let me tell what a cool event Jarden has up their creative sleeves.

On Saturday August 16, Jarden Home Brands will host its first annual International Can-It-Forward Day with special guest renowned chef and Bravo’s Top Chef judge, Hugh Acheson!  While the day is primarily to celebrate home canning via a live webcast on www.freshpreserving.com, International Can-It-Forward Day will also be exploring alternative uses for Ball brand jars.

The event is taking place at the Brooklyn Borough Hall Farmers Market and, in addition to canning demos where viewer questions will be answered in real-time by Chef Acheson and other experts, there will also be segments on crafting, herb gardening and the brand’s new drinkware line! We will also be attempting a Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Mason Jar Mosaic!

Now, I don’t actually can anything (sorry Mom), but I still wish I lived close enough to NYC to participate in this day.

Since I don’t, I’ll stay home and play with my Ball jars,  (hehe) and support the event from afar.

I might even have a party.  These jars make such great drinking glasses.  I LOVE the vintage green color, if I didn’t already say that.

Add my cute daisy lids and some polka dot straws and we’re ready for Christmas!

Wait, I said I was ready for football, NOT Christmas.

Maybe for now we’ll just tailgate with them.  Do you ever wish you could put lids on your game day friends’  drinks?  Ahem.

These lids came in my box of fun and they would be great for kids.  Or football fans.

The quart size.  Be still my heart.  I’m sure they are meant for tomato sauce or something, but I’m thinking vases.  luminaries after dark. drop dead gorgeous storage. those sconce things with the metal clamp and reclaimed wood.  BIG drinks.   just kidding.

Last but not least, I may be most excited about this baby.  It’s an infuser, you fill with fruit and suspend in your cute mason jar drink of water.

I recently went to the doctor (I don’t recommend that) and might have gotten a lecture about my eating.  Don’t get old.  It sucks.  They’ll tell you that you can’t have cookies anymore.  :(

Anywhoo, one of the things I need to do is drink more water.  Now I can flavor it with fruit and my eight 8 ounce glasses will be cute AND yummy!

Jarden Home Brands wants to give YOU some of these great products!   Comment below to enter to win  a set of the small jars, a set of the quart jars, AND the mason jar infuser.

Have a great day!

Disclosure:  I received the Ball jars and mason jar infuser for free in exchange for my review.  All opinions are 100% mine.  So are the drunk football fans.

  1. I love the Ball Jars. I have been collecting them for a few years. I have many old ones on display and love how they are making the blue and green. I have not seen the infuser. I would love to win. I too need to drink more water.

  2. The green color is beautiful and there are so many things you can do with them. That is a very generous giveaway. The infuser is a wonderful idea.

  3. I’ve been collecting blue Ball jars for several years and love them lined up on my window sill (among other places). And oooh I’m going to have to get some of those lids! Love that infuser too!

  4. I absolutely LOVE the colored jars. I live in Louisiana and haven’t seen them. I do can and love serving ice cold tea in my jars. Would love to have the blue or the green.
