An Intentional New Year

Hi there!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Watcha think about 2015 so far?  My Buckeyes got the victory last night, so as far as I’m concerned, that was the PERFECT start.

This probably sounds cheesy, but I am always so excited for a new year to start.  A new year is a blank slate, full of possibility, and not full of last year’s mistakes.

So every year, I dream of all of the improvements and accomplishments the new year will bring.  I dream big.

And then I fail.

For some reason, and it’s not for lack of resolving, I have some trouble getting from the dream to the results.

I’m actually pretty good at results at my day job.  But in my personal life, I avoid goal setting, planning, sacrificing, and even some of the implementing needed to bring my dreams to reality.

Introducing my word for 2015.

2015 word of the year-Reinvented

This year I resolve not to “fly by the seat of my pants”.  I resolve to be more intentional with my thoughts, my words, my faith, my actions, my time, and my money.

In my personal life, with my family, and with regard to my businesses, including this blog here.

This won’t be easy.  I’m looking for progress, not perfection.

But I’m a perfectionist, so that’s the “won’t be easy” part.

I’ll need help.  And structure.  And a plan I can stick to.

That’s where my new friend Ruth comes in.  I recently read her new book, Living Well, Spending Less: 12 Secrets of the Good Life.  (not an affiliate link, I just really believe in this book and in Ruth)

This is an amazing book, my friends, and will be my textbook for the coming year.  Along with my Bible, cuz seriously, the best plan ever came together in the life of Jesus Christ, and my feet belong in his footprints.

Ruth’s words have given a structure, and an actionable plan to fit my dreams, my needs, and my life.

Here’s a quote from Chapter Three that really spoke to me.

And words that hit me right where I struggle.

So along with all of the purging, and cleaning, and organizing that always comes with January, I will also be spending time putting Ruth’s wisdom into action. Intentionally.

What are your goals for 2015?  Let me know in the comments what your goals are and how I can partner with you in prayer to bring your dreams to reality.

Will you pray for me as I undergo some big changes?

Let’s do this!

  1. Kimm, started following you after seeing your comment on Living Rich on Less. Your word is great! Intention is a powerful word…it was my word is 2013. My word is Healthy…I need it to begin honoring the vessel God gave me. Here’s to a great year for all of us!!

    1. Thank you so much Collette. I like your word too, and need to apply “intention” to my eating habits too. :) Thanks for following, I will add you to my prayer list and we’ll support each other!

    2. I’m so sorry, I have no idea why I called you Collette. :( I’m a little sleep deprived today, up with a sick dog all night.
