Hello friends and reinventors!
You all know what they say about first impressions, right? How you only get one chance?
And you watch all of those HGTV shows that talk about how important curb appeal is, right?
Ok, well, none of that has anything to do with today’s post, I just thought I’d ask. (wink)
Maybe I should get to the point.
Our house is 15 years old this year, so the outside surfaces have definitely started to show some wear and tear from the brutally fickle Central Ohio weather. A couple of years ago, we attempted to paint the porch trim ourselves. And it was an epic fail, so last year we hired out the trim painting, and it looks great.
Which made the exteriors doors look BAD. Both the front and back doors were badly in need of repainting, and I’ve been procrastinating big time. It’s kind of ridiculous. Every spring, I say to myself, “self, you should paint the front door, and the back door.”
And then I don’t. Cuz painting doors isn’t exactly one of those glamorous makeover projects. (I know what you’re thinking, and yes, EVERYTHING else I do IS glamorous, so this is an important point…)
Today I just decided to git ‘er done.
I used Modern Masters Never Fades Front Door Paint in Elegant. (which is a fancy word for black) (not an affiliate link, I just like the stuff)
Here’s a before shot of the front door.
And here’s a look at my “helpers.” I love these boys so much, but they put the PAIN in painting.
These “down to the metal” spots were sanded prior to painting.
Two coats of Elegant later, and we had this.
I’m so excited. It looks great. I am not embarrassed by my front door anymore!!
After the paint was dry, I hung up our door monogram, with a strip of spring fabric that gives a hint to the color scheme inside.
Here’s a photo of the back door, hopefully the first step in a patio makeover this spring. Our frosted glass stripes added for privacy are not holding up well to the dogs, but you can still see Chip and Joanna Gaines through the clear section, so that’s good. :)
Would you like to win a quart of Modern Masters Never Fades Front Door paint in Elegant (black)?
Just leave me a comment, and my extra quart is YOURS!

Have a blessed week, and thank you so much for visiting!
