I am so excited to share this powder room makeover with you today. And get this…
it’s not my powder room. I am helping my bestie makeover her space.
The engineer is so happy even his pocket protector is smiling.
Anywhoo, here’s a before shot of the wall in question.
It’s REALLY hard to photograph a room this small, but I did my best with my phone camera. I couldn’t get my DSLR to focus right, not sure what was going on there, but I’m sure it had to do with lighting and focal length.
My friend had already primed and painted the dark maroon walls with Benjamin Moore’s Gray Owl in Eggshell finish and mixed in Behr’s paint and primer in one.
If you are looking for a beautiful and light pure gray, Gray Owl is a great choice.
My friend is going for a feminine and glamorous look so we chose to add some pattern to the largest wall with the Venetian Scroll stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils.
Here’s the photo of the pattern from the website.
We had the Gray Owl mixed at 50% for the stencil for a more subtle look.
My peeps, Cutting Edge Stencils are SO easy to use, even a anti-measure/instant gratification/just slap the paint on the wall girl like me can do it.
The kit comes with a large stencil, and a smaller edge stencil to use at the ceiling. There’s a level that attaches to the stencil to keep things straight. It’s a godsend.
You just position the stencil, level it, secure it to the wall with a few small pieces of painters tape, and roll on the paint. Then reposition the stencil and repeat. There are “registration marks” in the pattern to help you line up the stencil to continue the pattern.
It was seriously easy. This was my first time stenciling a wall and we are both thrilled with the outcome. This powder room makeover will also include a new vanity, mirror, light fixture, and accessories, so stay tuned!
