Decoupage Side Table-Themed Furniture Makeover Day

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Themed Furniture Makeover Day!  Still one of my favorite days of the month.

This month the theme is Animal.

Hmm…I thought…that’s a hard one.

Then I got an idea.  So here’s what I started with.  A thrift store side table that set me back $9.99.

This is after the engineer gave it a good sanding to remove the shiny finish.

I gave her two coats of Maison Blanche Vintage Furniture paint in Oyster.  Another sanding and a coat of wax followed.

Then came the “animal” part.  I had a pretty piece of bird print fabric that I thought would be an amazing accent to the drawer front.

I measured the space, and cut the fabric to fit.  I added a coat of DecoArt decoupage medium for fabric to the drawer and smoothed the birdie in place.

Next I added another coat of the decoupage medium on top.

The hardware was an aged brass color originally, but I changed that up with a little vintage copper spray paint.

What do you think?  I think she’s pretty cute decoupage side table, if I do say so myself.  ;)

If you love it, put a pin in it!  :)

    1. Thank you Karin! This is the first time I’ve used decoupage medium made specifically for fabric, and it was easy to use.

    1. Thank you Marie! Yes, the before pic is the back side. I had a photo of the drawer side but it was so dark it couldn’t be salvaged. :)

    1. Thank you so much, Angela! I’m in love with this little table, it will be hard to let her go! :) Or maybe I won’t. ;)

  1. Kim, this table is so darn cute and what a transformation. I can’t believe you used fabric. It looks amazing. Thanks so much for sharing it at our Something to Talk About Link Party again and hope you’re having a great week, xo Lisa at Concord Cottage
