A Whimsical Christmas Mantel

Hello my sweet friends!

I am excited to share my Christmas mantel with you today.  It’s a pretty simple design, really, but there were many versions, some sweat, a few tears, and maybe even a little blood shed before I was done.

As usual, I started with my plain base decor.  I love having this base that I can tweak easily with the seasons, or on a whim.

Easy Mantel Updates

We visit a nearby Christmas tree farm every year, the girls choose a tree, and the boys cut it down.  It’s tradition.  ;)  I am enamored with the “red truck/car with the tree on top” ornaments that I see in stores, so I decided on that theme for our mantel.

I bought one ornament for $5, a roll of gift wrap for $7, and a small gift bag for $3; and added a free printable from Craftberry Bush.

Here’s what I came up with.

The striped board was covered in “truck with tree” gift wrap with a wreath layered on top.

I put the ornament in a jar and added some epsom salt “snow.”

The book titles don’t really fit the theme, but the colors are right.  ;)

The print is displayed on the cutting board clipboard

And the gift bag got a little stuffing so she’d stand up straight.

I added some touches of plaid, and polka dots.  No stripes this year, wow.  :)

  1. I really love it! I like your tradition about cutting the tree, I think I’ll have to do that when a) I have more children and b) I can get a REAL tree (fake one out here in Japan…sad). My favorite is the wreath over the present & the stocking garland!
