Trash to Treasure: Plaster Fish And Pumpkins

You. guys.  Today is one of my favorite days of the year, a treat of trash to treasure proportions.  It’s Day One of Swap It Like It’s Hot week, hosted by Charlotte, of Ciburbanity.

This round of swapping and magic has been the most challenging yet.  I almost gave up.  You will understand when you see what I saw when I opened my box from Ariel, at PMQ For Two.

Bam.  Fish.  Plaster fish, to be exact.  My friends, for SO long, I had NO IDEA what to do with these lovelies.

Swap It Like It's Hot is a trash to treasure party of epic proportions. Come on over and see how I transformed a dated plaster fish.

The engineer tried to help, he really did.  He used our scroll saw to cut the fish in to pieces and tried to re-assemble them in the shape of a Christmas tree.  Hmm…no.

We thought about pulverizing them and adding water to the dust; then molding the plaster in to something else.  The problem with that idea is that if it fails, it’s game over.

One fine day I turned a fish over and became inspired by the flat side.  I asked the engineer to cut a bucket shape and he agreed.  Whew.

  1. Ahh, after re-reading the post two times I finally understand what happened lol
I would have actually made them into a mobile! or adorned them in gemstones and glitter to place with my DIY Faux Coral!

  2. That is what I call thinking outside the box! I would have had NO idea what to do with those awful fish! Wow, you really are creative!

    1. Thank you so much Linda!! It took me quite awhile and a lot of bad ideas before I came up with something I thought would work! :)
