Swap It Like It's Hot is a trash to treasure party of epic proportions. Come on over and see how I transformed a dated plaster fish.

Meet my little faux galvanized metal plaster fish pumpkin bucket.  Complete with a few “dents.”  ;)

I used some of my favorite paints to create the faux galvanized metal look for this trash to treasure transformation.  The base coat is Americana Decor Metallics paint in Tin.  You could also use silver or pewter.  I’m kind of obsessed with these metallic paints.

I dry brushed some leftover gray chalky type paint over the metallic to dull it a bit, then lightly brushed on some pearly white for that oxidized touch.

The last step was to attach some tiny potpourri pumpkins with hot glue.

Alrighty friends, how did I do?  How would you have transformed those fish?  Leave your ideas in the comments!

If you love this project, I’d love a pin!

  1. Ahh, after re-reading the post two times I finally understand what happened lol
I would have actually made them into a mobile! or adorned them in gemstones and glitter to place with my DIY Faux Coral!

  2. That is what I call thinking outside the box! I would have had NO idea what to do with those awful fish! Wow, you really are creative!

    1. Thank you so much Linda!! It took me quite awhile and a lot of bad ideas before I came up with something I thought would work! :)
