Trash to Treasure Reclaimed Wood Christmas Tree

Last summer I was gifted a couple of old wooden ladders by a friend.   We didn’t really need any ladders, but you know me, I can’t turn down old wood things.

Removing the steps was a little tricky, so the engineer used a pair of pliers to hold the cross wires in place while he turned the fasteners on the vertical braces.

After disassembly, one of the vertical braces became the trunk for our tree, while the steps became the branches.  Due to the graduated sizes, the steps were perfect candidates for a Christmas tree, but the engineer cut each off at a 45 degree angle to add more tree shape.

I brushed on some DecoArt white stain (affiliate link) for fun.

I think we’ll decorate this beauty with lights and make her the focal point of our holiday front porch.  Do you think she needs ornaments?   I’m debating, so I’m all ears for your ideas!

  1. What a great project. The “engineer” did a great job and so did you. You added just the right amount of white to it.

    I love it.

Thanks for hosting another fun party.

    1. Thank you so much Kim! I think I’m leaning no ornaments too. I’ll add some color with some faux “presents” underneath. :) Have a great day and thanks for your prayers!

    1. Thank you so much Sam! I am excited to decorate our porch, and the house, but I live with some real sticklers about waiting until after Thanksgiving! :) Next Friday, look out. ;)

  2. Hi Kimm, I love this and the ladder was perfect. I love it when people give me old wooden things too. LOL! We made a wooden tree to hang inside with lights and a few ornaments a couple of years ago and i love it. Thanks so much for hosting this Trash To Treasure event. It was a lot of fun!
