Scrap Wood Farmhouse Table For The Patio

Hey hey!  I am so glad you’re here, cuz today is another awesome day and I can’t wait to show you what my BBF’s (best blog friends) and I have been up to.  Today is our monthly DIY challenge, and this month’s theme is right in my wheelhouse; scrap wood.   My engineer designed and built an easy farmhouse table for our patio makeover.  I painted it.  We are a match made in heaven, aren’t we?

We started with this old crate I bought a couple of summers ago at an auction.  I actually bought two, and we turned the other into farmhouse style storage, remember?

The engineer added a scrap plywood square to create a table top and another in the middle for a shelf.

Yesterday, for my junk flower metal garden ornaments project, we started a new tradition here at Reinvented, Nerd Notes.  Nerd Notes are the engineer’s way to sharing the left brain side of our projects.  I get to share the pretty parts.

Now that we’ve got that over with, let’s get out the paint!  I used Amy Howard One Step Paint in Vintage Affliction, a beautiful soft aqua, and brushed it on with a stencil brush to achieve a rustic finish.  I protected my new paint job with a couple coats of polyacrylic in a matte finish.

I’m pretty excited to use this beauty on the patio this summer for storing wood kindling, flowers, or supplies for s’mores.  I’d like to add some wheels to make it portable, but that would require more Nerd Notes.  ;)

Sharing is caring!  We would be so grateful if you’d pin this post and share with your family and friends!

    1. Thank you so much Kim! After the table was finished, I totally thought about laying it back down to use as divided storage! ;) I need to find some more crates.
