Hand Painted Thrifted Glass Vase

(this post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience.  thank you for your support!)

I started with a simple thrifted glass vase that I had previously painted with a single gold stripe.  I tired of that quickly and the vase had been in my basement holding paint brushes. This week I started dreaming in red, white, and blue and began to plan for our 4th of July decor; and a simple plan hatched.

You might recognize that spot in our side yard; it’s my painting spot.  ;)  I covered the vase completely with Heirloom White spray paint to create a clean canvas.

Next I pulled out the navy blue, Americana Decor Chalky Paint in Honor.  I free hand painted on come stripes, aiming for a perfectly imperfect painted look.  After the paint dried, I did a little distressing with my sanding block.

    1. Thanks Angela! I am excited to get going on the mantel. Hopefully it will go as well on live video as I’m thinking it will! :)

  1. I love this idea! It’s so easy and simple. Gives that little pop of color. I’m all for re-purposing items around the house and always looking for new ideas on re-purposing. Reduce, reuse, recycle! This is awesome, I’m going to check out more of your ideas!

    1. Thank you so much Michele! Come back often! I love to redo and redecorate, and since I have no money, it’s all about the re-purposing! ;)

    1. Yay!! I’m an totally in the same boat, I LOVE to decorate (and redecorate and redecorate…) and since my budget is tiny, I DIY everything! I hope you’ll be back often so that bug can keep biting! :)

  2. I love this! And more importantly, it is a simple easy craft that I could actually manage. My crafting skills are subpar at best. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. You are so welcome, Amy! I love the simplest and easiest crafts myself too, and they still make a huge style impact!!

    1. Thank you so much Lora! I am kind of obsessed with navy right now, so I’m looking for cheap ways to add it to our home. Thankfully I have a couple of shades of navy paint! :)

  3. I love the stripes and the hand painted-ness (is that a word?) of the whole thing. It is so fun and looks so much better! I love it. You always do such great work.
